progress moves north: ADSL in Jbeil

Posted by adiamondinsunlight on January 15, 2009

Its the little things in life:

ADSL wasn’t available in my neighborhood in Beirut, so I made do with regular Lebanese wireless (which operates basically in precisely the opposite way as wireless Internet in the US). There must be a growing – and ongoing – demand for ADSL, if it is spreading so far from Beirut.

Of course, ADSL seems to have the same hiccups that regular Lebanese Internet does. While chatting with H last week, long stretches of my conversation never reached him. You might consider it a sign from the Internet gods that I talk too much – and you might be right. But still: an Internet connection that randomly drops content is less than ideal.
