Lebanon devours its children

Posted by adiamondinsunlight on December 12, 2007

When I was much younger I took a short gifted & talented summer course at a local university – a workshop, really.

We discussed myths, and what wisdom we could learn from legends. I don’t remember most of them, but one remained with me, and it began:

Chronos, the father of time, devours his children.

Of course time devours his children, even if against his will. We grow up, become adults, age, and die. For me at thirteen, this was an unshakable lesson.

This morning I heard the same sentence in my head. Lebanon devours its children too, and stops time the only way it can: by destroying their future.

As sorry as I am with Lebanon’s problems, I am glad to see that you are familiar with Greek mythology. Just a small note though. The terrible Titan that ate his children was Cronus or Kronos. Chronos was indeed the father of time but never ate his children.
