Lebanon in Austria

Posted by adiamondinsunlight on May 16, 2007

G and I did a major hike the other day – a randonee that took us from the schloss where the conference is being held up a quite steep mountain path, through a tunnel and out at … the base of the old castle. Argh. We were hoping that all our hiking would have brought us closer to the entrance. Oh well – that’s what made it an effective fortress, no doubt.

As we began our ascent, G pulled me to the side of the path and said: Look! Even in Austria they love Lebanon!

Lebanese pride is everywhere, it seems – even in rural Salzburg.

I love it! And oh! Treasure strolling in the great outdoors. I miss it so!

  2. […] This is the post I wrote about seeing a painted mark on a hiking trail in Austria that looked like the Lebanese flag. […]

You do realize that it is not the Lebanese flag… that it is the Austrian flag with some leaves in front of it? Or maybe I missed the pun in the whole thing, sorry if that is the case.

    • Mazen, thank you for your comment. We did realize that this was a trail marker, of the Austrian flag, and not a Lebanese flag – that was the point of the post! We had a good laugh seeing the trail marker covered by leaves in such a way that it appeared to be the Lebanese flag – and G had the good idea of taking a photo and posting about it.
