Desperate times call for desperate measures: prospecting for oil on Makdisi Street
Posted by adiamondinsunlight on March 22, 2007
For the past week, a strange orange machine perched on the back of a flatbed truck has been at work on a corner of Makdisi Street.
(front end view, taken this morning to the bemusement of the man walking behind me)
(front view, taken a bit closer and to the increased puzzlement of my fellow pedestrian)
When it is operational, it looks much like the drilling part of an oil rig, plunging up and down to some point below the earth.
I can’t imagine that EDL is now so desperate that they have begun prospecting for oil in Beirut, but … stranger things have happened.
